Your sleeping pattern influences your life more than you know it. Not getting enough sleep can make you feel tired and irritable throughout the day, so getting sufficient sleep can make all the difference.

If you’re have sleeping problems, there are some simple things that you can do to help

You can try downloading apps that are dedicated to helping you sleep better such as White Noise and Sleep Cycle. If you feel like your sleeping problems are getting worse, a good idea would be to consult with your doctor.

Have a Healthy Diet

I know, I know, you’ve heard this before but hear me out!

Multiple studies have shown a correlation between a person’s diet and their brain function. Diets that are high in refined sugar (desserts, sweetened drinks, pastries) have been proven to be harmful to your brain as opposed to diets that are high in vegetables, fruits, seafood, etc.

If you want to adapt a healthier diet, you can check out The Eatwell Guide which includes government recommendations on implementing a balanced diet.

Get Some Exercise

You don’t have to do heavy exercise but moving your body regularly is important to get your endorphins pumping.

If you don’t want to go outside to exercise or spend money to go to the gym, you can still move your body from your home. There are tonnes of fitness videos available on YouTube from easy workouts to yoga sessions. If you’re feeling lazy, there are even workout videos that you can do from your bed!

Make Time for Fun Activities

You might have some hobbies that you enjoy doing in your free time. If you do, try to make time for them to boost your mood.

If you don’t have anything in mind or want to try something new, here are also some activities you can try out:

  • Meditation
  • Journaling
  • Spending time with nature
  • Playing relaxing video games
  • Reading a book
  • Watching a movie

Let’s be real – taking care of our mental health isn’t as easy as what the step-by-step guides make it look like. Still, it’s important to take small steps whenever you can.

More importantly, know that you can always seek help from your friends, family, or health professionals. We hope this can be a reminder to you that you’re not alone in your pursuit of mental wellbeing.

Take care!
